Most Expensive Skincare Cream: Cle de peau Beaute sets world record
TOKYO, Japan -- Japanese cosmetics giant Shiseido introduced a limited-edition face cream named "Cle de peau Beaute," which is priced at nearly $13300 (Y1,050,000) for a single 50-gramme jar, to mark its 140 th anniversary, setting the new world record for the Most Expensive Skincare Cream,

Le Creme, which sells for $13,000 for one 1.7-ounce jar -- making it more expensive than gold -- was created by Shiseido Co. to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its Cle de Peau Beaute line of luxury products, the New York Daily News reported.
The Guinness world record for the most people applying moisturiser is 1,068 and was achieved by Alberto Pazzaglia (Italy) and The European Shoe Machinery Co. Ltd (UK) in San Mauro Mare, Emilia Romagna, Italy.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most lipstick applications in one hour: 472, achieved by Clare Madden (UK) at Boots, Meadowhall, Sheffield, United Kingdom.
Only three jars of the crystal-encrusted cream will be sold Sept. 21, the company said. If more than three buyers show interest, the company will hold a draw.
"We do not usually make limited editions of our products, but this is to mark a special occasion for the Clé de Peau Beauté line," says spokesman Megumi Kinukawa.
"We hope it will appeal to our loyal customers and people who are interested in gorgeous brands."
The yet-to-be-unveiled product owes its jacked-up price to its packaging.
"Each container is hand-crafted and made up of 30 layers of crystals and three platinum rungs," the Japanese cosmetics company tells the Telegraph.
The line has powerful anti-ageing properties, the company said, and can both lift and tighten skin on the face.
For anyone now able to afford the cream in the commemorative containers, Shiseido is also releasing a second 50-gramme limited edition container of the cream for Y84,000 (£627.63).
Per gram, the high-performance premium moisturizer is five times more expensive than gold, and is the most expensive beauty cream on the planet.
Shiseido is Japan's largest cosmetics firm and has annual global sales of around Y638.1 billion (£5.13 billion).
