The previous Guinness world record for the most people dressed as sunflowers was 116 set at The Nursery on the Green in London, UK.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people dressed as Robin Hood: 1,119 at Castle Green, Nottingham, UK.
Lindsey, of Ohio, grew up as Greg and experienced a "normal boyish" childhood as a keen sportsman and gifted basketball player.
He was offered a basketball scholarship to study economics and marketing at Central Michigan College, but dropped out aged 21.
He became increasingly isolated and changed his name from Greg to Lindsey. She then poured her heart out in a letter to her supportive parents explaining she had always felt and wanted to be a woman.
Lindsey, of Ohio, sought medical advice and began taking oestrogen to become more feminine and now boasts a curvy woman's body — and a 38B bra size. She is now legally recognised as female after living as a woman for two years.
Transsexualism is an individual's identification with a gender inconsistent or not culturally associated with his or her biological sex. Simply put, it defines a person whose biological birth sex conflicts with his or her psychological gender.
Greg Walker, who is undergoing a sex change, grew up sports-mad with beautiful cheerleaders on his arm, but said he "always felt different".
The 25-year-old, who has size 16 feet and weighs around 20 stone, regularly lifted weights and would ride motorbikes to mask his true feelings.
He had dozens of girls chasing him but shunned their advances, preferring to become friends instead and discuss fashion and "girly" things.
In his early 20s, Walker was unable to continue the "charade" and began wearing women's clothes.
He then sought medical advice and began taking oestrogen to become more feminine and now boasts a curvy woman's body and a 38B bra size.
"I was one of the popular kids in high school," the Daily mail quoted her as saying.
"I was smart and always had girlfriends and loads of girls chasing me. But it somehow didn't feel right, almost like it was a charade. "I started to feel really isolated as thought here was something wrong with me and at 18 I started doing research secretly into why I was feeling so different from everyone else.
"Although I hid my feelings well I lived my life always knowing there was something different. By 21 I had hit my rock bottom and I started having emotional problems and turned to drink.
"Then one day it just clicked and I knew what I had to do. I started wearing women's clothes and later turned to female hormones to suppress the testosterone in my body.

However after Walker decided to come out, she contacted Guinness World Records to ask if she could be the tallest transsexual.
She told Huffington Post UK: "I don't think it's a negative label. When I was 17 or 18 I was a tall transsexual looking to come out and I wanted to see if there was an option for me. I thought by doing this I would help other people."
However Walker was disappointed by the response she received. "Guinness World Records emailed me back saying that they wouldn't support me, I forget how they worded it, but they said they don't recognise it as a record or something.
"They worded it real fine so I wouldn't get offended but I kind of was. It's the start of a transsexual life transitioning and there's a group of people out there going through this. People just don't want anything to do with it: I know people like that who just won't recognise it, I get that everyday."
Lindsey is saving up for full gender reassignment surgery, which she hopes to have by the end of the year or early 2013.
She added: "I'm so much happier now and know I'm living the right life for me. "I spent a long time in the wilderness and feel more confident that people will accept me for the person I am."
