WINGRAVE, Bucks, UK -- Perry Watkins,
47, a six-foot tall car fanatic, converted a Postman Pat into
a 39 inches high and 26 inches wide legal street car-setting
the world record for the Smallest
car.
Photo:It runs on a nippy 150cc single-cylinder
four-stroke engine, but at 39ins high and 26ins wide, six
foot Perry Watkins has to perform a feat of contortionism
to actually get into the vehicle.

Over a period of seven months, Mr Watkins
reinforced the fibreglass shell with a steel frame and mounted
it on a mini quad bike.
He added a 150cc engine, mirrors, windscreen
wipers, lights, mock racing exhaust pipes and “go-faster flames”.
He did have to also remove Postman Pat and his black-and-white-cat
Jess from inside the former ride.
World's smallest
car:
-Rear wheels and tyres are from a Honda
Monkey bike.
- Front wheels are one off pieces machined from
billet aluminium. -Front tyres are from a 1942
Brockhouse Corgi Paratroopers motorcycle.
-Weight 150 kilos.
- MPG 70 miles to the gallon.
- Max speed 40 MPH.
The vehicle is fully legal and is taxed
as a quad bike so Mr Watkins can drive it on public roads.
Mr Perry Watkins said: “The first
reaction people had when they saw my car was complete disbelief.
A spilt second later they howled with laughter. It’s so tiny.”
Wind Up and Perry will be hitting the road
shortly to go on tour around Britain, Europe and Australia.
Wife Angie and sons Dan, 21, and Jack, 17, are
very proud of their dad's hobby, although Angie says she would
prefer it if Perry didn't spend so much time in the garage!
