The Guinness world record for the longest sausage measured 59.14 km (36.75 miles) and was made by J.J. Tranfield on behalf of Asda Stores Plc, at Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest vegetarian sausage: it measured 101 m (331 ft 4 in) and was achieved by Metzgerei Schnitzel e.V. (Germany) in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Father Scott Donahue was on hand to measure the Longest brat in the world, which came in at 47 feet and three inches.
The world's longest brat weighed in at 40 pounds and was made from a pork and beef mix seasoned with salt, black pepper, whole marjoram, sugar and paprika.
The 50-foot long bun required 35 pounds of dough and was transported in a trailer from Highland Bakery. A backup bun was also provided.
The world's longest bratwurst was cut into bites and sold to customers at the eatery's annual Oktoberfest celebration.
Proceeds from the sale of the World's Longest Bratwurst at the German restaurant's 26th annual Octoberfest celebration were donated to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
"We wanted to mix it up this year and work with other local small businesses to not only break the Guinness World Record, but to help Mercy Home give roots and wings to at-risk youth," said Carolyn Berghoff, chief executive of Berghoff Catering & Restaurant Group.
