The Guinness world record for the longest kiss lasted 50 hours, 25 minutes and 1 second and was achieved by Nonthawat Charoenkaesornsin and Thanakorn Sitthiamthong (both Thailand), in Pattaya, Thailand.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Most expensive kiss sold at auction, set by Joni Rimm (USA), who paid $50,000 (£31,000) at a charity auction for the privilege of one kiss with Hollywood actress Sharon Stone. Sharon auctioned the kiss in aid of Project Angel Foods – a Los Angeles based charity providing free meals for people with HIV and AIDS.
The "kissathon" ended shortly before midnight on Valentine's Day, with the male couple who won last year unable to maintain their smooch, collapsing just two minutes before Ekkachai and Laksana.
The pair won 100,000 baht ($3,300) cash and two diamond rings.
"They were very exhausted because they did not sleep for two-and-a-half days, they had to stand all the time so they were very weak," Sompron Naksuetrong, vice president of event organiser Ripley's Believe It or Not!, told AFP.
